Programme Overview

The Role of a Senior Leader

Explore the multifaceted role of an Assistant or Deputy Headteacher across various contexts. Gain insights from existing Deputy Headteachers as they share their experiences with senior leadership structures and teams. Identify your personal attributes and leadership style through discussions on different leadership types.

Planning for School Improvement

Delve into school improvement planning and the purpose of Self Evaluation Forms (SEF). Understand how these tools feed into daily school self-review, monitoring schedules, and strategic planning. Engage in discussions to scrutinize and enhance your school improvement strategies.

Building Professional Relationships for Success

Learn practical coaching and mentoring techniques within the performance management cycle. Develop strategies for managing difficult conversations and gain awareness of the staff wellbeing and workload debate. Strengthen your ability to build and maintain professional relationships.

Data

Examine the importance of understanding evaluative and numeric data. Discuss various forms of internal and external data, including attendance, pupil premium, SEND, EAL, and mobility figures. Explore how qualitative data, such as pupil, community, and staff voice, can impact whole school strategic development and individual pupil progress.

Placement Planning

Discuss placement protocols and begin planning lines of enquiry to support your leadership development. Focus on the 'Quality of Education' strand of the SEF to guide your placement activities.

Placement

Timetable to be agreed with the Headteacher prior to placement.
