Virtual Headset Training (PVI's)

The training uses VR to help adults to experience a 'child's eye' perspective of trauma and neglect. It helps participants to develop a greater sense of empathy and understanding of children and the impact of trauma, and can help to stimulate thoughts and discussions around how best to respond to and support children who have experienced trauma.

Sadly, it doesn't give participants a 'magic wand' or skills to de-escalate every situation, but it should help them to reflect on their practice and use it as a starting point for developing therapeutic responses to challenging behaviours.
It's worth making it clear to participants beforehand that the content of the films includes scenes of neglect and domestic abuse and, for some people, it can be quite upsetting.

During the sessions, I will always let participants know what's coming up so that they can choose whether to watch the film or not, and everyone is always reminded that they can remove their headsets at any time.

An opportunity to explore attachment and trauma within the early years.
