Apply for a Section 50 licence

● apply to put up new apparatus on an adopted highway (SWL2)

● apply to work on existing apparatus on an adopted highway (SWL3)

Application takes around 10-15 minutes.

● two copies of a plan at scale 1:1250 or greater of the proposed location and depth of the relevant apparatus, marked by a broken red line

● a certificate of public liability insurance (minimum £5 million)

● proof of Street Work Employee Accreditation

Applications will only be accepted for work on adopted public highways, if work is required on privately owned land you will require a wayleave agreement with the land owner.

All applications must be submitted at least 1 month in advance of commencement of the proposed works. A shorter period may be agreed by the Street Authority in conjunction with the other undertakers likely to be affected.

If your application is successful, the Highways team will be in touch to arrange payment (preferred method is BACS). The application fee is £482.00 for a maximum length of 200m.
