What are the benefits?
Good writing is not just about spelling well and using punctuation accurately. Becoming an effective writer by the end of KS2 means that children need to learn how to adapt their writing to suit different purposes and audiences. This course is aimed at supporting class teachers to consider how to build in sufficient opportunities for children to develop the knowledge and skills they need to do this successfully.
Objectives
Objectives of the course are:
- to support understanding of progression in writing within the national curriculum
- to raise awareness of current research in teaching writing
- to secure an understanding of the elements of effective writing
- to explore the writing journey - and how this might be adapted in different contexts and for different groups
