The training will be delivered by Claire Jackson, an education law paralegal.
A one-day training event designed to provide an introduction to the relevant parts of the SEND law framework, including:
- key framework principles and partnership duties
- what can be expected from schools and other education providers
- suspensions and permanent exclusions; reduced timetables and attendance
- EHC needs assessment and EHC plans - procedure, content, and naming an education provider in an EHC plan - what LAs can expect from schools
- annual review of EHC plans - law and procedure including partnership duties
Learning Outcomes
Outcome of the workshop are:
- have a basic understanding of the SEND legal framework
- understand specific legal duties towards children and young people with SEND
- have a clear understanding of partnership duties between education settings, local authorities, health care, and social care
