What are the benefits?

This course is aimed at teachers new to year 1, or returning to year 1 to support them in ensuring they are clear in the expectations for the year group. It will also allow Year 1 teachers the opportunity to network and share good practice. 

Aims

This course aims to: 

• clarify the importance of effective transition into Year 1 
• ensure the elements of effective teaching and learning in Year 1 and share good practice 
• look at how to plan for good progress in Year 1 in relation to the curriculum end of year expectations 
• highlight the arrangements for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check
