Request the transfer of rights to a grave

● arrange the transfer of the right of burial and right to place and maintain a memorial

Request takes around 15 minutes.

You'll have the opportunity to save your answers throughout the form and come back to them later.

● grave number and location

● names of anyone already buried in the grave

● the original ownership of grave documents or grave deeds if you have them

If the grave owner has died, you must either:

● be the next of kin to the owner

● be able to upload a copy of grant of probate, the grave owner’s will or letter of administration

If you own the grave, you will need:

● the name, address and contact details of the person you want to transfer the grave to

The transfer can only occur if there are no remaining owners of the grave or all owners agree to transfer the rights.

We can only take requests for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council cemeteries, these are: Durham Road, Thornaby, Oxbridge Lane, Egglescliffe, Billingham.
